Some of the topics we discuss in todays episode can be triggering to those who struggle with their mental health or have dealt with abuse. You'll have to make the judgment call on whether or not to listen, however, I feel as if it can be healing to know that others have gone through what you've been through. Christine's vulnerability is admirable and like a phoenix she has risen from the ashes of her trauma. She is a strong, she is funny, and I think you're going to love her. Be sure to stick around until the end where she closes out the episode the way she would leading a yoga class. Namaste yogis.
First off - I have to thank Christine for being so vulnerable and sharing her story. I can't imagine how difficult it must have been to deal with, process, and share what she has been through. It's our hope that by sharing this difficult conversation, it will empower those who have had similar experiences and bring awareness to those who have not. There will be moments where we make light of certain situations - this isn't to say that either of us don't take this seriously. Sometimes you have to find the humor in the chaos to keep afloat. By no means do we think that schizophrenia or any other mental illness is funny. As someone who has Generalized Anxiety Disorder / Panic Attacks, I can tell you first hand how unfunny it is. But again, humor is often times the best medicine and it's how I choose to process through things. I hope our conversation inspires you to dialogue with the people in your life and to ask the hard questions.
With love,
