What's On My Mind (01) - It's Time To Face Reality Everyone.

Episode Summary

This is the first episode of the what's on my mind segment where I will be tackling topics that might not be addressed in full length episodes. In this first episode, I dive into what's happening here in the United States in regards to racism and white privilege. More specifically, why white people (I am also white) have such a hard time admitting that white privilege and racism exist. Time is up - with the recent deaths of Ahmaud Arbery and George Floyd, more and more people are waking up to the reality that people of color are not being treated fairly or equally the way they deserve. People of color have the same rights as white people, but it's clear those rights are just words on paper. I'm diving in and I'm not holding back. It's time to say it loud and say it proud, BLACK LIVES MATTER.

Episode Notes

Admitting that racism exists and that white privilege exists doesn't mean that white people have never experienced pain, loss, or suffering. It means that we (white people) haven't typically experienced pain, loss, or suffering because we are white. In this lies the privilege. Our whiteness doesn't bring us pain...it usually brings us benefit of the doubt and success.
